Question about writing classes

I know a few of you mentioned on the class discussion boards that you were going to take more writing classes. I thought it might be interesting to hear which classes people are taking and why. Or what about classes you've taken in the past...is there any class out there you've taken that you would recommend (or not recommend)?

Starting September 17th, I'll be in "Writeriffic: Creativity Training for Writers." I decided on another, more beginning-type class because I feel I still have a lot more work to do regarding discipline in writing and also editing. I'm taking baby steps here in hopes that I'm building a strong foundation for good writing in the future.

I'd like to take another course, and will soon, but right now I need some, make a circle with each hand by placing the tips of your index finger and thumb together and turn your hands palm side out and hold them shoulder height and shoulder width apart and hummmmmmmmmmmmmm time.

Didjall git my drift?

Oops, I mean palm side IN. Boy I messed that up!

Not me...life only works for me if it's an absolute crazy mess :)

Actually, work will be just as crazy as it was before, but I'm hoping to learn some better discipline. I think a lot of my problem is more organization rather than lack of time, to be honest.

But, I do take a bit of time everyday for "hummmmmmmmmm time." Seriously!

I signed up for the Writeriffic class too and for the same reasons. See you there soon.

Cool, Marita! It will be nice to know someone from the start.

Is that Writeriffic class on the same website that we were on? It sounds like fun!

Denise, your a brave women. That class right now would end my writing career, quick!

I was really hoping to take the "Write your Life Story" course but funds are a bit tight this month and it starts this month, so sadly probably won't be able to.

So I will just keep practicing.

OH Denise...I would be struggling, too! You'll definitely have to share with us what you've learned. And yes, Writeriffic is on the same website (or it is on mine...I know we all access ed2go through different schools).

Also, AG, my online course offerings show "Write Your Life Story" being offered 10/15, 11/12, and 12/10. I do hope you get the chance to take it...you have a powerful story to tell.

I plan on taking the Writerriffic course also starting September 17, I'm having fun and it is a great escape from the everyday rigamarole (if that's how it's spelled)

Okay I've been considering the writeriffic class also. Either that one or the description one. But I can't decide. What would you suggest based on what you've seen me write?

jkc said...

Charlene - I would say pick the one that you feel is what's needed next for your writing "journey."

For me, I decided to take another more "beginner-type" course because I feel like I need more work in those very basic lessons (time management, editing, etc). I know many are ready to move on from that and onto the next step. It just depends on where you feel you are after our Beginning Writers class.

Thanks JKC, that helped me think some more. I've been working on a novel, my first attempt at doing something like this, and I kind of feel I need to learn how to describe things better. I find I tend to redo the same old thing and that gets boring! So I'll keep what you said in mind.

With so many people enrolling in Writterific...I'm beginning to lean that way myself. Right in the middle of fantasy football season though! More stewing ahead...

Ok, I've signed up for Writeriffic too. See you all there.

*dripping wet*
Okay, I took the plunge and also signed up. My sister just had back surgery and is at home in a brace for a period of time. I wonder if anyone will be able to guess who she is?!!! Don't you love cliffhangers?
